Lyrics

Ms. Lynn

Where have you been

Ms. Loretta Lynn

Did I catch you thinking

About something that you did?

On a gravel road

Where our story goes

After the memories are gone

And the lies unfold

It should be no surprise

When the lights burn bright

I could see the color of your eyes

It should be no surprise

When the lights burn bright

I could see the color of your eyes

Somewhere down the road

Sits a row of crows

Watching us from the wire

Looking down their nose

But you and I, we know

How that story goes

Crows feet in our eyes

Standing in the cold

It should be no surprise

When the lights burn bright

I could see the color of your eyes

It should be no surprise

When the lights burn bright

I could see the color of your eyes

And the time has come to say goodnight

The time has come to say goodnight

The time has come to say goodnight

The time has come to say goodnight

Spinning Wheels

Looking through a summer screen door

Kitchen table and linoleum floor

While my pen walks across the page

Writing down thoughts from another age

The smell of beer and formaldehyde

Come on over let’s take a ride

If these spinning wheels could talk

They’d sing a song

Of ice and red wine

And we would sing along

Remember that night I drove your car

Through the sky out into the stars

We saw the ruins of the places we’d lived

The stained grass from the things we did

The smell of beer and formaldehyde

Come on over let’s take a ride

If these spinning wheels could talk

They’d sing a song

Of ice and red wine

And we would sing along

Long shadows in the headlights

Talking on the phone all night

So come on, Mary let’s get you home

Before you wander out into the cold

If these spinning wheels could talk

They’d sing a song

Of ice and red wine

And we would sing along

If these spinning wheels could talk

They’d sing a song

Of ice and red wine

And we would sing along

Reluctant Fools

I could hear your music through the closed door

Like a sound I had never heard before

You didn't get what you wanted

We got a different you

Now we're all reluctant fools

There's an ambiguity when you see me

I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be

You didn't know what you wanted

I didn't know what to do

There we were two reluctant fools

Let the gods of the dead bicker over me

They haven't seen half of what I've seen

They won't get what they want

We'll let them talk

But honey, I am over and gone

I guess the abyss can dance now, we're off for the night

I still have one last dream so hold on tight

We'll still get what we want

Just enough is true

Here we are two reluctant fools

We'll still get what we want

Just enough is true

Here we are two reluctant fools

Big Bang

Your random energy

Has hit my heart

It collapses all around me

We could make a new start

We'll make a big bang

We'll make a big bang

We'll make a big bang

We'll make a big bang

You are brighter than

The next brightest star

After the sun goes down

Remember who you are

We'll make a big bang

We'll make a big bang

We'll make a big bang

We'll make a big bang

I had run out of fuel

When you pulled me in

The center of my galaxy

A universe begins

We made a big bang

We made a big bang

A big bang

A big bang

A big bang

A big bang

A big bang

A big bang

How Broken Hearts Are Made

You didn't lie

But there was something behind your eyes

You couldn't tell me

But you were saying goodbye

Those keys never get played

That's how broken hearts are made

That grove is a graveyard

For every breeze that comes its way

Wasn't your choice to make

But you made all the same, with that

Blank look on your face

That's how broken hearts are made

This is my love letter

All the things I remember

Driving cars, playing hearts

Singing songs on your guitar

That halting way you showed me

All the love you could see

Bottle caps and tire swings

And the only song I could sing

Could never take your place

That's how broken hearts are made

This is my love letter

All the things I remember

Driving cars, playing hearts

Singing songs on your guitar

It’s a message lost in time and space

And it’s written for you

It was written so long ago

I might never find you

This is my love letter

All the things I remember

Driving cars, playing hearts

Singing songs on your guitar

This is my love letter

All the things I remember

Driving cars, playing hearts

Singing songs on your guitar

Katydid

The katydid makes a beautiful sound

It reminds me of when I'd see you around town

In the summertime

When the katydids whine

In the summertime

The harvest flies start to cry

Around the time the crops dry

And we spend all night

In the combine

We spend all night in the combine

In the summertime

When the harvest flies cry

In the summertime

And the crickets

Would chirp all night

Where you and I lie

And we'd spend all night

Staring at the sky

In the summertime

When the crickets chime

In the summertime

When the crickets chime

In the summertime

When the crickets chime

In the summertime

Hanging Around The Lost and Found

These old boots used to dance

Every time they got the chance

And we’d turn up the radio

To dance on the side of the road

The lights shined like poetry

And sang in sibling harmony

Now the sidewalk diamonds shine

Through the window of my mind

But now I’m

Just hanging

Around the lost and found

I am

Just waiting

For something good to come around

It’s the simple ache of loss

Knowing where that time has gone

Memories melt into my mind

Like ice in red wine

And I am

Just waiting

For something good to come around

I am

Just hanging

Around the lost and found

Now I am

Just waiting

For something good to come around

I am

Just hanging

Around the lost and found

Now I am

Just waiting

For something good to come around

I am

Just hanging

Around the lost and found

Everybody Has A Song

We will murmur our inside jokes

To the docents in the hall

Where the poetry that I wrote

Is painted on the wall

But this is not a secret

We won't keep it to ourselves

It only grows when you reveal it

It's a story we have to tell

It's as simple as

Water that fills a well

And somehow it means something

To somebody else

Once they can hear it

All your friends will sing along

There's no need to fear it

Everybody has a song

It's as simple as

There's no need to fear it

Everybody has a song

Sun and Moon

Rise up in the night

The tide will come after

I'll share my light

For the bats in the rafters

As you move through the sky

Water will follow you wherever you go

You're the life of the night

We can talk to each other

When I'm beyond the horizon

Just shine your light farther

They'll keep their eyes on you

And watch you wherever you go

And then day comes

To light up the sky

Don't let it overshadow your moonrise

Even I will say goodbye

To leave some space for the night

And now, my wind blows

It still makes you shudder

We're siblings, my friend

Two sides of each other

You can find me each time

You need somewhere to go

When day comes

To light up the sky

Don't let it overshadow your moonrise

Even I will say goodbye

To leave some space for the night

Even I will say goodbye

To leave some space for the night
